Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland determined ways of providing support for Disabled Persons basing on „By-laws of undertaking and financing actions under the Support Fund for the Disabled targeted at creating conditions for their full participation in the process of University recruitment to obtain education, education and conduct of scientific activities at the Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland”.

Disabled persons have the opportunity to benefit from the support of an assistant. The person interested in such assistance independently indicates the person who will perform this role (the requirement is to be of age, have full legal capacity and enjoy full public rights). Experience is also necessary to properly perform the assigned tasks. There are no contraindications against having
a relative as an assistant.
The assistant concludes a civil law contract with the University and is remunerated for the support provided.
WHAT KIND OF ASSISTANCE CAN BE PROVIDED?
Examples of forms of assistance:
Assistants for disabled students only performs tasks related to the study process.
They do not serve as a personal assistant. Assistance in getting to classes only includes assistance in using public transport – this does not include transport organised by SUM.
HOW TO GET SUPPORT FROM AN ASSISTANT ?
An interested person should submit a documented application for assistant support (available for download below in the Forms and Documents tab).
