On May 19, 2026 in the lecture hall of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, the White Coat Ceremony was held. In keeping with the tradition of medical schools, this ceremony is dedicated to students who, having completed the preclinical stage of their education, are beginning their clinical training, symbolically donning the white coat.
The main participants in the ceremony were students of Dentistry enrolled in the English-language program at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze. During the ceremony, seventeen students received their white coats, accompanied by family members and invited guests. Vice-Dean Prof. Małgorzata Skucha-Nowak, MD, PhD, on behalf of the Dean’s Council the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze, welcomed the students into the clinical environment and wished them success as they embark on this new stage of their medical education. The event was graced by the presence of the faculty leadership and representatives of the academic community, including Vice-Dean Joanna Żywiec, MD, PhD; President of the University Dental Center of the Medical University of Silesia Dorota Puka, MA,; Szymon Skoczyński, MD, PhD, Associate Professor at the Medical University of Silesia, Head of the Department and Clinic of Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze; Julia Makowska-Songin, PhD, Head of the Foreign Language Department at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze; and representatives of the Faculty Dean’s Office. Short addresses to the guests were also delivered by the representatives of student organizations: Dania Odeh and Michał Jurkiewicz. On the same day, the White Coat Ceremony coincided with the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze Open House, giving our students’ families and invited guests the opportunity to tour the Zabrze-Rokitnica campus and take part in presentations and workshops organized by the Faculty’s Departments and Clinics.
