On April 24, 2026 in prof. W. Zahorski Lecture Hall in Katowice-Ligota, the White Coat Ceremony was organized for the second time in the history of the Medical University
of Silesia. In accordance with the tradition followed by medical universities, this ceremony
is addressed to students of medical professions who pass from preclinical to clinical part of their education presenting a white coat as a symbol of this transition.
Key attendees of this ceremony were medical students enrolled in English language program
at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice. Total of 70 students enjoyed the presentation of a white coat, accompanied by academic teachers, family members and distinguished guests.
The event was also attended by Dean’s authorities: Professor Tomasz Francuz, MD, PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice, and Vice-Dean Professor Aneta Gawlik-Starzyk, MD, PhD who took the stage to greet the students in medical clinical society and expressed best wishes of success in their further medical education.
During the White Coat Ceremony two interesting lectures were given: by Professor Maciej Wybraniec, MD, PhD from 1st Department of Cardiology, and by Doctor Joanna Kowalik, MD, PhD from the Department of Children Surgery.
White Coat students received warm greetings and words of support from their colleagues:
Ms. Julia Kucza – Vice-Chair for International Affairs Student Government, and Mr. Mohed Muhammad – representative of Student Government Association (SGA).
